Question Time live: Big move ahead of 2032 Games
Paralympics Australia will have a new home in the Brisbane city for at least the next two years, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced.
Paralympics Australia will have a new home in the Brisbane city for at least the next two years, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced.
Staff had been working temporarily out of the Brisbane City Council boardroom, but on Friday morning the Premier said the government had secured a new CBD space - nine years out from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Ms Palaszczuk said the move along with the government’s $44m contribution to a new Paralympics Centre of Excellence at the University of Queensland would make the state the “centre of development” for accessibility and research.
“When we talk about the legacy of 2023 the one word that keeps coming up is inclusive,” she says.
“The community wants our Games to be the most inclusive Games ever held. This decision is another step closer to that goal.
“And who knows what other bodies will move to Queensland in the future.”
