Opposition Leader David Crisafulli claims the LNP has done a “pretty reasonable job ” addressing major election issues, despite not yet releasing a detailed policy plan ahead of October.
With just five months until the state election, Mr Crisafulli refused to reveal when exactly the LNP would provide a detailed, costed plan of what the party would implement should it win government, with the hopeful premier saying his party had already put forward plenty of solutions to the four “big issues”: youth crime, health, housing and cost of living.
“I think we’ve had a pretty red hot crack in the last three-and-a-half years,” he said.
“We’ll continue to put forward solutions, and I suggest we’ve done a pretty reasonable job across all those four issues already.”
Mr Crisafulli said the LNP had already committed to changing the frequency of hospital data reporting, removing detention as a last resort, changing sentencing provisions and providing more funding to child safety and residential care sectors.
He said the LNP would also focus on maintenance guarantee for power plants, fund women going back to work and invest in a solar subsidy scheme for renters.
While the LNP leader said his budget reply would be a meaningful part of his policy plans for the state, he claimed the Opposition had already helped create positive change for Queenslanders by pushing for breach of bail laws for youth offenders and exposing the DNA laboratory debacle which led to the statewide inquiry into forensic services.
On housing, he said “every single cent” of the housing investment fund would be delivering new supply.
