A complaint has been lodged with Deputy Premier and Local Government Minister Steven Miles alleging a report used by Ipswich City Council to vote on whether to de-name infrastructure after Paul Pisasale was altered.

Ipswich councillors last week received a report indicating support for Paul Pisasale Bridge at Springfield Central and Pisasale Drive at Yamanto – which was named after Mr Pisasale’s parents – to be renamed following the former mayor’s criminal conviction.

However one unnamed councillor has written to Mr Miles alleging the report failed to include social media and other avenues which indicated the community was in favour of keeping the names.

“I have received a complaint from one of the councillors and I’ll refer that through the appropriate mechanisms,” Mr Miles said.

The Courier-Mail reported on Friday Mr Pisasale’s name would return to the landmarks after his former deputy Paul Tully successfully overturned the council decision.
