Nicholas Andreatidis appointed to Qld District Court bench

A veteran commercial barrister who appeared on a number of high-profile inquiries has been appointed to the District Court bench.

A veteran commercial litigation barrister who appeared on a number of high-profile inquiries, including into the Grantham floods, has been appointed to the District Court of Queensland.

Nicholas Andreatidis KC will take his spot on the bench from May 26.

Mr Andreatidis’ expertise from administrative law to banking and finance matters and building and construction.

He has appeared at a number of high-profile inquiries, including the Robodebt Royal Commission; Queensland’s Grantham Floods Inquiry; the Disability Royal Commission; and the Paradise Dam Commission of Inquiry.

Mr Andreatidis was called to the Bar in 2003 and took silk in 2018.

He has served on the Queensland Bar Association council since 2917.

Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath said Mr Andreatidis’ appointment was “richly deserved”.

“He has built a strong reputation as a hard worker whose courteous manner is appreciated by all who encounter him,” she said.

“Mr Andreatidis KC wanted to be a lawyer from a young age and his appointment to the bench is a reflection of his expertise in, and passion for, the law.

“His record in the courtroom speaks for itself and he will be another great asset to the ranks of our Queensland judges.”
