‘Bully with no moral compass’: Liberal senator delivers scathing judgment of PM

Firebrand Queensland senator Pauline Hanson has launched a scathing character assessment of Scott Morrison, labelling him a bully and “not a prime minister for the people”.

One Nation senator Hanson, in a quick speech to Parliament today, stood up in support of comments made last night by Upper House counterpart Concetta Fierravanti-Wells.

The outgoing Liberal senator late last night poured scorn on the Prime Minister, labelling him ruthless and not fit for the job.

Mr Morrison this morning dismissed Senator Fierravanti-Wells’ attack as comments from someone “disappointed” her time in Federal Parliament would be coming to an end.

But Senator Hanson said Mr Morrison was “not in touch with the Liberal Party” and “not in touch with people of this nation”.

“This is not a prime minister for the people,” she told Parliament.

“He is a bully, and I back the senator up completely with that he is a bully because I have experienced it myself.

“He’s a man (who says) you do it my way or there’s no way.”

In her extraordinary late-night attack, Senator Fierravanti-Wells said Mr Morrison was “an autocrat, a bully who has no moral compass”.

Just hours after the Federal Government handed down its Budget filled with handouts to woo voters in the upcoming election, the senator took aim at Mr Morrison over the messy preselection battle in her home state of NSW.

She said the Prime Minister had destroyed the Liberal Party through his recent interventions in the NSW branch preselection, after she lost her spot on the ticket ahead of the likely May election.

Ms Fierravanti-Wells told the Upper House Mr Morrison was “not fit to be prime minister”.

She also singled out the party leader’s NSW lieutenant, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke, claiming he was engaged in “corrupt antics” to ensure their factional colleagues were pushed to the front of the ticket.

“In my public life, I have met ruthless people,” she said.

“Morrison tops the list, followed closely by Hawke.

“It is his way or the highway. An autocrat, a bully who has no moral compass.”

The Liberal senator said the party faithful was disengaged ahead of the upcoming election because of the factional powerplay.

“I have received hundreds if not thousands of emails outlining their disgust,” Senator Fierravanti-Wells told the Senate.

“They have lost faith in the party. They want to leave.

“They don’t like Morrison and they don’t trust him.

“They continue to despair at our prospects at the next federal election.

“And they blame Morrison for this.

“Our members do not want to help in the upcoming election.”
