Labor reveals Groom candidate, and new name on senate ticket
As Labor reveals who will be its federal candidate in the Coalition-held seat of Groom, an community services executive has been picked to join the party’s senate ticket.

A Townsville-based community services executive has been picked to join federal Labor’s senate ticket, with the party also revealing its candidate in the safe LNP seat of Groom.
Queensland Labor Senators Murray Watt and Anthony Chisholm will be number 1 and 2 respectively on the party’s upper house ticket.
Edwina Andrew, psychologist who has worked across regional Queensland and is now based in Townsville, will be third on the ticket.
Federal Labor will need to reverse the slip in its vote from 2019 in order for Senator Chisholm to be re-elected.
Genevieve Allpass, a teacher and chief executive of a Toowoomba-based charity, will contest the Coalition-held seat of Groom.
Ms Allpass, currently a teachers’ assistant focusing on English at a Toowoomba high school, faces a steep battle in the electorate which has only had National or Liberal members since its inception.
