Norman Henry Kruger, who served Ipswich as a councillor for 15 years, died last week.
Queensland’s longest serving councillor Paul Tully was one of his colleagues more than 30 years ago.
He said Mr Kruger left his fellow councillors with many beautiful memories.
“He was a brilliant orator, raconteur and excellent debater who strongly represented the people of division 4,” he said.
“May you rest in peace.”
Mr Kruger, born on October 4, 1931, served Ipswich City Council as a councillor between 1979 and 1994.
He was also a life member of the Australian Labor Party.
The father died at the age of 93 on January 10.
His funeral service will be held at 10am Tuesday in the chapel of Ipswich Crematorium at Warrill Park Lawn Cemetery.
