The Queensland government will review its ties with top professional services and consultancy giant PwC amid the fallout of a federal tax leak scandal.
Treasurer Cameron Dick told The Courier-Mail he was “disturbed” by recent reports PwC had breached confidentiality clauses and used government tax information to sell tax avoidance schemes to clients.
One of the “big four” consultancy firms, PwC has so far stood down nine partners over an alleged leak of secret federal government plans to crack down on tax avoidance.
The Treasurer told The Courier-Mail all contracts with the firm would be reviewed.
“I am disturbed by reports about PwC’s corporate conduct,” Mr Dick said.
“Given Queensland Treasury’s role in revenue and state taxation, I have asked the Acting Under Treasurer to review all contracts with PWC, and not enter into any further contracts with PwC until this review is completed.”
PwC currently holds a pre-existing contract with Queensland Treasury as internal auditor.
The Courier-Mail understands that the contract will lapse on June 30, and will not be renewed.
