Annastacia Palaszczuk’s famous catchphrases used in state parliament by Labor MPs

Two Labor ministers have bizarrely shouted some of former premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s famous catchphrases - less than 24 hours after Qlders were told to forget about the past nine years.

Ministers impersonated former premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s mannerisms and Treasurer Cameron Dick said he would “love” the former premier to campaign for Labor, despite 24 hours earlier urging Queenslanders to forget about her.

In bizarre scenes in parliament, two government ministers, Mr Dick and Agriculture Minister Mark Furner, shouted the former premier’s signature catchphrases, “so rude” and “grow up”, at LNP members across parliament.

Ms Palaszczuk, as premier, frequently used the terms against the opposition.

During a fiery post-budget question time yesterday, Mr Dick yelled “so rude” across the chamber, while Mr Furner echoed “just grow up why don’t you” – another noticeable tribute to the former premier, who stood down in December.

The relationship between Ms Palaszczuk and Steven Miles’s “new” government has come into focus this week.

Asked why he took a trip to the past after explicitly pressing Queenslanders to forget about Ms Palaszczuk, Mr Dick doubled down on the slogan, declaring he could not believe how rude the LNP members were in parliament.

“The LNP were just so rude in Parliament today,” he said.

“They were so rude yesterday and they were so rude today, but when they are rude and disrespectful, you know you’ve absolutely got them.”

He then praised Ms Palaszczuk’s as one of the “great Labor leaders” and said he would be honoured if she campaigned for the party in the upcoming election.

“Of course we’d love Annastacia to campaign for us,” he said.

“She’s a very dear friend of mine and we’ve known each other for 30 years, I’d love her to campaign for us.

“We approached every election -including the elections that Annastacia led- as a team, focused on the things that mattered to Queensland whether it was the Covid election, or whether it was the election coming out of the disastrous Newman government.

“We always focused on the people. That will be our focus, but she’d be more than welcome to campaign for us, and we’d be honoured if she did that.”

Mr Dick on Tuesday asked Queenslanders to forget about the past nine years when they headed to the polls in October, in an attempt to separate public opinion of Mr Miles and his predecessor.

“The 26th of October is a fight about the future of our state, not a referendum on the last nine years,” the treasurer said.

The premier has argued the election, like all, should be a contest of ideas about the future.

“There is a reason those opposite do not want the election to be about plans for the future. That is because they do not have any, except to cut,” he said.
