They’re the dramatic images illustrating the pain of many.

The true impact of the bushfires that ravaged Queensland in recent months has been captured by Nearmap photos which show the scorched earth left behind.

Tara, on the Western Downs, copped the brunt of the fires across October and November, with lives lost and dozens of homes razed.

Tara resident Taylah McKenzie and her partner Jason had to flee their home before it was left in ruins by the fire.

“It was scary to seeing it come in the glow so fast,’’ she said on October 26.

“ … As soon as we knew it was coming, a couple of minutes.

“I already had the boxes and bags packed with clothes.”

These are the confronting photos that show how much of the region has been transformed from lush bushland to scarred earth.
