Slashed airfares for 300,000 flights on more than 30 routes in and out of Queensland are now on offer in a week-long sales blitz, with prices starting from as low as $49.
Virgin Australia and the state government have teamed up to offer 300,000 discounted fares aimed to bring visitors to the Sunshine State.
More than 30 routes and 300,000 fares will be up for grabs from today until September 10.
Some of the airfares include one-way economy tickets from Sydney to the Gold Coast from $49, Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast from $75, Brisbane to Cairns from $69 and Perth to Brisbane from $155.
The sale deals will be for travel periods from October 2023 to June 2024 and are available in each direction, like Brisbane to Cairns and Cairns to Brisbane.
Tourism and Events Queensland chief executive Patricia O’Callaghan said the discounted fares would make a big impact.
“Competition around the country and the globe is heating up but we know there’s people who love coming back to Queensland, so we’re giving them a great excuse to turn that dream into a booking,” Ms O’Callaghan said.
“We’re also targeting those who think they’ve done it all in Queensland and showing them there’s so much more to discover.”
Virgin Australia’s Alistair Hartley said the airfares were expected to sell like hot cakes.
“We certainly don’t expect the airfares will last long and encourage all Australians to visit our website from midnight tonight to book their next Queensland holiday,” Mr Hartley said.
Acting Tourism Minister Cameron Dick said the campaign aimed to strengthen Queensland’s dominant share of the nation’s domestic holiday market.
