Two cats have been saved from a blaze after a fire broke out in a Brisbane unit block this morning. A woman was injured in the blaze.

Emergency services attended the scene at Fairfield Rd in Yeronga just before 6am on Wednesday where the inside of an apartment had caught alight.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services rescued two cats from the burning building.

Five crews attended the scene and extinguished the fire a short time later.

A woman aged in her 50s was treated for superficial burns and taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Fire investigators remain on scene to determine the fire’s point of origin.
