A Qantaslink passenger plane has had to make an emergency landing at Brisbane Airport.
The plane, carrying 64 passengers from Newcastle to Brisbane, declared an emergency about 9.25am.
According to a Brisbane Airport spokeswoman, the plane had reported problems with its landing gear when it called for help and permission to land.
The aeroplane, a Qantas Dash 8, successfully landed on a Brisbane Airport runway.
Qantas engineers later confirmed the landing gear had been functioning properly, but the alarm was raised by a faulty sensor.
Video filmed from within the cabin shows the emergency situation unfolding, with the wheels of the aircraft down and a flight attendant repeating “Brace! Brace! Brace!” as the aircraft descends towards the runway.
Once on the ground, the unidentified cabin crew member can be heard yelling “Stay down! Stay down! Stay down!” as the aircraft was met on the tarmac by fire crew.
There have been no reports of injuries.
A Qantas spokeswoman said the plane had made a “priority landing … after receiving an indication light in the cockpit about a potential issue with the landing gear”.
“The pilots followed standard procedures and required checklists for this type of event.
“The flight landed safely at Brisbane Airport.”
The Dash 8 Q400 had to be towed back to the terminal.
The Brisbane Airport spokesperson confirmed that the incident required the closure of one of two runways at the airport for around 45 minutes. It meant aircraft could only use one runway until 10am.
