Hundreds have gathered at Brisbane’s King George Square to protest the illegal “occupation, siege and war” by Israel on Gaza’s Palestinian population for the second time in four days.
Organised by the Brisbane Stands With Palestine group, protesters donned Palestinian flags and chanted, “Free, free Palestine.”
One speaker at the event called on protesters to continue fighting and protesting Israel’s occupation of Gaza.
“Wherever it is, how ever you can come and mobilise your support for Palestine, for humanity, for justice and freedom,” they said.
“We are against the barbarism and genocide that has been visited on the population of Palestine with not only the support but complicity of our rulers.”
Queensland police were in attendance and continued to monitor the event throughout Wednesday afternoon.
A police spokesperson confirmed the event was an unauthorised assembly but police were aware that a protest had been planned for some time.
