President Apartments Surfers Paradise incident: Man’s horrific burns after gas explosion

A young man has sustained horrific injuries after a butane gas cylinder exploded in his face in an apartment on the Gold Coast.

A young man has sustained horrific injuries after a butane gas cylinder exploded in his face in his apartment on the Gold Coast.

The 24-year-old man was at the President Apartments at Surfers Paradise when the cylinder exploded, leaving him with severe burns to more than 30 per cent of his body.

Queensland Ambulance Service crews arrived just after 5.20pm on Friday, along with intensive care paramedics.

The patient was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition where he remains.
