Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s partner Shaun Drabsch by her side for Parliament’s opening ceremony

QUEENSLAND’S ‘first bloke’ has made his official debut by appearing at the side of Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

QUEENSLAND’S “first bloke” has made his official debut by appearing at the side of Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

Shaun Drabsch was seated beside Ms Palaszczuk during Governor Paul de Jersey’s speech at yesterday’s official opening of Parliament.

The pair then mingled with guests on Parliament’s picturesque lawn for the traditional garden party.

Ms Palaszczuk and Mr Drabsch have been friends for a long time.

Both previously worked in ministerial offices.

Mr Drabsch, who works for rail freight company Aurizon, was an economic adviser during the first Beattie government in 1998 and is well-versed in minority government.

Along with senior public service positions, Mr Drabsch was chief-of-staff to former Federal Labor minister Stephen Conroy.
