Potential storms will hit Brisbane today following a very wet night for most of southern Queensland, with parts of the inland region seeing tops of 50mm.
Around 20mm to 50mm fell across parts of the central to southern interior last night and this morning including in the Condamine region where there were tops of 51mm.
Meanwhile, Brisbane’s northern suburbs saw the highest rainfalls with Aspley recording 13mm, while further inland at Warwick there was 27mm.
BOM meteorologist Steve Hadley said there was “fairly decent” rainfall activity overnight and into the morning.
“It’s starting to really ease off now. But it’s still looking a bit showery through the south east coast, there may be a storm risk through the next six hours into the early afternoon,” he said.
Mr Hadley said there was a “fairly low storm risk” in Brisbane today focused on early to midafternoon, but the increased cloud cover could stop them from forming.
“There could be a bit of shower activity around today in Brisbane and a few showers on the scene as well tomorrow,” he said.
But the sun is set to come out throughout the week with the chances of rain “quite low” across the south east coast, before it kicks off again next weekend when another trough will form.
“It will be moving through the southern interior from Thursday and bring some shower activity for Brisbane over the weekend,” he said.
“But other than that it’s not too bad on the whole, apart from today where there’s a decent chance of rain or showers.”
