A family of possums have taken up residence in a Tingalpa home, with the homeowners changing their parking routine just to keep the marsupials safe.
Just a few years ago Kylie Freeman said she paid more than $700 to rehome a possum from her fridge that screeched every time they opened the fridge, which she aptly named, “Old Mate Fridge Screecher.”
“It took up residence in the garage roller door instead ... and descendants of Old Mate Fridge Screecher have lived in there ever since,” she said.
“They live in the right hand side roller door, which is unfortunate because that’s our preferred drive-right-in parking area, but visualising them tumbling around in there when we roll he doors up and down makes us feel bad.
“So now we reverse into the less favoured left side instead.”
The possums will try to “casually” wander inside if the homeowners forget to close the garage door.
“Even if the cats are on the deck they are chill. We are not, though.”
Now after homing multiple possum generations, Mrs Freeman considers the possums part of the furniture.
