POLICE have confirmed the families of two fishermen who went missing earlier this month have been notified after a body was discovered in Brisbane’s Moreton Bay.
A massive week-long search failed to locate Timothy Maher, 32, and Carwyn Massey, 25, after they went missing on August 11, but their partially submerged boat and fishing gear were found.
A member of the public found a body in the water on Monday morning, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the identity.
“Police have formally advised the families of two missing fisherman who went missing on August 10 that a body was located by a member of the public on August 26 at 8.30am,” a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said.
“Police wish to acknowledge the co-operation of both families and their thoughts remain with them at this very difficult time.”
