Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man last seen entering the Brisbane River after a lengthy search proved unsuccessful.
Emergency services desperately searched for the man after he was reportedly seen struggling in the river just after 3pm near South Bank and had not been seen exiting the water.
The man is described as being in his mid-40s, 170cm tall, slight build, bald and wearing shorts.
The co-ordinated search has been scaled back due to low visibility and will commence again tomorrow morning.
Police are urging the man or anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact police.
He was last reported seen going down the river towards the Story Bridge at Kangaroo Point.
A police spokeswoman said the river was flowing fast due to the extra rainfall over the weekend.
Five fire crews and Polair were also on scene Sunday afternoon assisting police as they made their way down the river in a number of rescue boats.
