The 20-month-old boy who was the subject of an amber alert has been found safe and well, police say.

The boy was taken from a home at Darra in Brisbane’s southwest early Sunday morning but was located about 11am.

Police located him in Salisbury and he is now safe and well.

Screams of joy could be heard from the home as the news broke the young boy had been located.

It’s understood the man who allegedly took the child was on a list of potential suspects to be investigated by police.

Police have ruled out the incident was completely random, however say the man is not related to the boy.

The link between the pair is currently unclear.

A man is assisting police with their inquiries.

Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.
