Police appeal for assistance into alleged child rape investigation

Police have arrested and charged an accused child rapist who they say preyed on eight young victims aged just 12-15 using social media. Police fear there may be more victims out there and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Police are appealing to the public for assistance into the investigation of alleged child exploitation offences in the Rockhampton region for nearly the past two years.

The call for assistance comes after a Gracemere man was arrested in relation to offences against eight children earlier in September.

Sean Patrick Lynch charged over child exploitation material, indecent treatment of girl

David William Stygall admits to possessing child exploitation material.

Police will allege the 20-year-old man used social media to contact his victims ranging in ages from 12 to 15-years-old.

He has been charged with rape, unlawful carnal knowledge, possession of child exploitation material, indecent treatment of a child and using internet to procure children under 16 and is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on November 18.

Investigators are calling for other victims in the Capricornia District who have not come forward yet to do so and are urging anyone with information to contact police on 131 444.
