Woman, 19, dies after crashing into tree in Brisbane’s southern suburbs

A young woman has died after her car collided with a tree in Brisbane’s southern suburbs in the early hours of the morning.

A young woman has died after the vehicle she was driving collided with a tree in Brisbane’s southern suburbs in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to Mount Gravatt Capalaba Road at 4.40am where a car had left the road and collided with a tree.

Paramedics including critical care and High Acuity Response Unit responded to a 19-year-old woman in a critical condition at the scene, but she died at the scene.

Two fire crews also attended to deal with smoke coming from the bonnet of the car.

The road was closed for more than four-and-a-half hours while police investigated but it reopened about 9.30am.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information to contact police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
