A Brisbane area pub was forced to close on Friday after a woman climbed into the roof cavity.
Emergency services were called to a reported disturbance at the Albany Creek Tavern at Albany Creek at 4.30pm
On arrival, police located a 48-year-old woman who had climbed through a manhole in the pub’s ceiling and who initially refused to get down.
The pub was evacuated and power to the establishment was shut down.
Albany Creek Tavern management confirmed the closure of the venue on Friday afternoon in a statement.
“Due to an emergency the venue is currently closed. We will update as soon as the situation changes,” the statement read.
However a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said that police later successfully negotiated with the woman, she came down from the ceiling and the pub has since being reopened.
“(The woman) appeared drug affected and refused to come down from the roof cavity,” a spokeswoman said.
“At approximately 5pm as a result of the power needing to be disconnected, the pub was evacuated.
“Police negotiated with the woman, and she climbed down at around 6.50pm.
“The woman was transported to hospital by QAS and the pub was reopened at 7pm.”
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
