Man in his 20s dead after crash on Carnarvon Highway near St George

A young man has died after a car collided with a kangaroo on the Carnarvon Highway near St George.

A person is feared dead after a car collided with a kangaroo near St George on Monday morning.

A man in his 20s has died after a serious crash on a western Queensland highway early Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to Carnarvon Highway near St George just after 2.30am where a car that was heading north struck a kangaroo before hitting a tree.

There were three patients at the scene with paramedics transporting the male driver and another male passenger to St George Hospital in stable conditions with minor injuries.

The third patient, a young man, was treated for critical injuries before he later died on scene.

The kangaroo also died on scene and investigations are ongoing.
