Member for Lilley Anika Wells has announced the safe arrival of twin boys on Tuesday.
“In the words of another watershed Australian duo: “Hello boys!” Twins Ossian & Dashiell arrived safely this morning 20.10.2020 (sic),” she posted to Twitter Tuesday afternoon.
“Oshy is 2675g, Dash is 2540g and everyone is doing very well thanks to the wonderful team looking after us at North West Hospital here in Lilley.”
Ms Wells, 35, of Chermside, also posted a video of Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese announcing the arrival of the twins to the House of Representatives.
“For the member of Lilley it is a great day. She has asked me to inform the House that this morning she gave birth to Ossian and Dashiell Wells McCarthy, twin boys.
“In the words of another great Australian duo, Roy and HG, hello boys, from the National parliament, and we congratulate Anika and Finn.”
Mr Albanese said it was extraordinary a member of the parliament had twins while in office.
“Indeed I’m sure I speak on behalf of everyone in the House that it is quite extraordinary that a member of our national parliament has had twins while in office.
“They are healthy and mum is healthy.”
The boys are the second and third children for Ms Wells and her husband, Finn, 34, who also have a three-year-old daughter, Celeste.
The Australian Labor Party member was elected to the House of Representatives for Lilley in 2019.
