A video appearing to show a car brake-checking an ambulance has gone viral, with many calling for the driver of the vehicle to lose their licence.
The one-minute clip, recorded on June 11, and uploaded to Dash Cam Owners Australia on Tuesday night, captures an ambulance with its lights flashing travelling along the Go Between Bridge towards Coronation Drive.
As the ambulance attempts to pass a white car at the traffic lights, the car remains stationary.
When the traffic lights turn green, the car drives forward but abruptly stops moments later.
The ambulance, which is now using its siren, tries to manoeuvre around it, only for the car to stop again, blocking its path before moving left, allowing the ambulance to pass.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed no reports had been made about the incident.
Under section 78(2) of the Queensland Road Rules, drivers who fail to give way to emergency vehicles can face a $376 fine and three demerit points.
The video sparked outrage online, with Facebook users flooding the comments of the post calling for the driver’s licence to be revoked.
“Brake checking an ambulance, the arrogance,” one commenter wrote.
“Get the number plate, fine them, then send them to sit for their licence again,” another wrote.
“Should be an automatic $10k fine,” a third wrote.
Others praised the ambulance driver for staying calm and avoiding a collision.
“Can just imagine what they’re saying in the ambulance,” one commenter wrote.
“One day as a paramedic and I’d be fired for sure,” another added.
The reason the driver failed to move remains unclear.
