OPPOSITION Leader Bill Shorten has kicked off his nine-day tour of Queensland in the south east, spruiking Labor’s commitment to creating jobs and providing political stability.
Mr Shorten got off the Bill Bus at Beenleigh Bowls Club to a roaring crowd of supporters where he gave his first speech.
“Queensland needs jobs, not cuts,” he said.
“We understand in Labor that where goes Queensland, goes the nation.
“People are craving stability.”
The bus will be travelling 1400km up Queensland but it’s not known if it will get as far as Cairns in the state’s far north.
“We’ll get as far as Townsville and if I can fit Cairns in I’ll do that too,” Mr Shorten said.
The Opposition Leader said it was a very important and urgent time for Labor to be boarding the bus.
“Our economy is not working,” he said.
“There are things I heard over summer; when is this government going to go? And everything is going up except people’s
wages.”
