One dead after tragic crash at Minden crossroads

A motorcycle and car have collided on a notorious crossroads west of Brisbane, leaving one dead and three others, including a child, in hospital.

A 47-YEAR-OLD man is dead and three others, including a child, were hospitalised after a car and motorcycle collided on a highway west of Brisbane.

The motorcycle and car collided at the notorious Minden crossroads - the intersection of Lowood Minden Rd and the Warrego Hwy - west of Ipswich at about 7.20pm on Thursday.

The motorcyclist was travelling west along the Warrego Highway and had turned left into Lowood Minden Rd when it collided with a car travelling eastbound heading from Hattonvale.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 36-year-old Minden woman and a 12-year-old boy, were taken to Ipswich hospital with minor injuries.

An 18-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The incident closed one lane of the Warrego Hwy.

The forensic crash unit are investigating the cause of the crash and request anyone who had dashcam footage of the incident to contact police.
