THE cyclist killed after she was hit by a truck outside the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital at Herston this morning has been identified as a nurse from the hospital.
Police say Carolyn Lister, 50, was riding along O’Connell Terrace when she came to stop between a truck and another vehicle at traffic lights at the intersection with Bowen Bridge Rd just after 7.30am.

Mrs Lister has been described by her fellow cyclists as a very strong rider who had cycled in many places around the world.
A statement from Cycling Queensland paid tribute to the avid cyclist.
“Carolyn was a very strong rider, who recently took up racing with Hamilton Wheelers Cycling Club,”the statement said.
“She was excited to win her first race late last year. A keen traveller, Carolyn had cycled in many places around the world.
Cycling Queensland’s thoughts and condolences are with Carolyn’s family, friends and club mates during this difficult time.”
In a statement, the hospital said it was offering support to those who directly worked with her.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our team members today,” a Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital spokeswoman said.
“All staff who worked directly with the woman have been informed and are receiving support.
“Counselling support is also being provided to RBWH and Herston campus staff who witnessed or responded to the incident.
“We offer our sincere condolences to her family and friends at this sad and difficult time.”
The 58-year-old male driver of the truck was not physically injured.
Brisbane Regional Duty Officer Inspector Sean Cryer said police were looking at the hospital’s CCTV footage of the area of the accident.
“It shows the truck (but) it doesn’t exactly show the incident,” Insp Cryer said.
“We’re working through that … we’re unable to determine exactly what happened at this moment in time.”
Insp. Cryer said the driver of the truck, a man in his 60s, was incredibly distressed.
“He’s currently being treated by the ambulance service … we have yet to speak to him.”
Insp. Cryer urged any witnesses who haven’t come forward to contact Crime Stoppers’.
Bowen Bridge Road and O’Connell Tce have reopened after the crash this morning.
