Nova 106.9 has once again dominated the radio ratings, with the latest survey marking the station’s third consecutive win.

The sixth radio survey of 2023, announced on Thursday, revealed Nova with 11.9 per cent of the overall radio audience.

However, the typical tug of war between Nova 106.9 and B105 was interrupted by a new heavyweight in KIIS 97.3, who nudged ahead of B105 to clinch the second spot with an impressive rating of 11.8, up a point from the previous survey.

B105 had to settle for fourth place at 11.1 behind Triple M in third with a score of 11.4.

It wasn’t just about the overall numbers for Nova 106.9. Their breakfast show, led by the Ash, Luttsy, and Susie O’Neill maintained the station’s supremacy with a score of 12.8.

Hot on their heels, B105’s Stav, Abby, and Matt claimed a close second with 12.6, while Triple M’s ensemble of Marto, Margaux, and Dan rounded out the top three at 12.1.

Nova’s dominance didn’t wane as the day progressed, topping the charts during the afternoon and drive slots, with a score of 13.9 and 13.5 respectively. It also amassed the highest cumulative audience, with an enviable score of 699,000.

Triple M Brisbane enjoyed the largest increase in Breakfast and recorded the largest cumulative audience in the station’s history with 557,000 tuning in with Marto, Margaux and Dan.

ABC Brisbane and Triple J continue to struggle in the overall radio ratings with each station boasting only 6.0 per cent and 5.8 per cent of the overall radio audience respectively.

Robin Bailey’s KIIS 97.3 stormed the ranks boasting a large increase in overall audience, only to be trumped by Nova for first place by 0.1 per cent.

Celebrating his show’s supremacy Luttsy reflected on the trio’s Japanese adventure earlier in the year.

“It’s so great that Brisbane connected with us through our Japan swimming adventure with Susie,” he said.

“It’s the start of some amazing fun that listeners will have the opportunity to be a part of the year and beyond.

“We are genuinely having a great time together and we know when we do that the listener will come with us on that journey.”

Nova Network’s program director Brendan Taylor said it was happy days at the station after Thursday’s announcement.

“Brisbane is one of the most highly contested radio markets in the country, so to pop out and lead the pack is really fantastic,” Mr Taylor said.

“To achieve overall number one, as well as the number one Breakfast Show, Afternoons, Drive and the most listeners in Brisbane is a credit to our brilliant team lead by Chris Bezzina.

“I’m particularly thrilled for Ash, Luttsy and Susie and The Chrissie Swan Show.”

Further cementing its digital era reign, Nova stood tall as the most streamed station with a score of 130, followed by Triple M at 119 and B105 at 113.

However, on the digital front, a newcomer Brisbane’s Smooth FM lead the scoreboard with a rating of 73, while 973 KIIS 90s bagged second place at 52.
