Bunnings Warehouse has revealed plans to expand its Noosaville store with a bulk trade centre for tradies and DIY enthusiasts.

Development applications were lodged for approval with Noosa Council last month to build the two-storey trade centre at the Eumundi Noosa Rd site.

The application lodged by town planners RPS Group stated the trade centre would be a stand alone building at the northern end of its land.

“The bulk trade yard will cater to builders and trades customers, rather than being targeted to retail customers,” it said.

It would have carparking on the ground floor and some loading spaces on the upper level for customers buying in bulk.

It said the entry would be via Gateway Dr where it proposed some road upgrades including an extension of the right turn lane and a painted median strip.

Bunnings subdivided its land in 2014 and the trade centre would be built on the second lot.

No changes were proposed to the existing Bunnings Warehouse store.

“It will not be physically connected in any way with the existing Bunnings store,” it said.

“It will not rely on the existing Bunnings store for access.”

The bulk trade yard had a gross floor area of 1087 sqm.

It would have 57 undercover car spaces and nine proposed on the upper level which the application stated would be 44 more spaces than required under town plan rules.

“The proposed development involves establishing a bulk trade yard for the purposes of providing timber and trade supplies primarily to professional builders and tradesmen,” it said.

“Carparking for ‘walk in’ customers will be in the lower level building undercroft.

“Customers collecting large quantities or bulky items (eg timber) can drive up the ramp on the building’s southern side to circulate and short-term park to load within the upper level of the building.”

The application proposed opening hours of 6am-8pm Monday to Sunday.
