A disability support worker who followed another woman in her car before repeatedly punching her as others filmed the attack has faced a Noosa court.

Alexa Frances Lloyd pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm following the attack on November 1, 2021.

Police prosecutor Phillip Stephens said the victim was with friends and they had driven to the Noosa lookout at the end of Viewland Dr about 9.30pm.

The court was told that Lloyd had followed the other car to the lookout.

The victim and the witnesses then sat on Lloyd’s car and Lloyd started abusing the victim.

“The witnesses heard the defendant yelling out, abusing the victim and calling her words similar to ‘wh--e’ and ‘sl-t’,” Sergeant Phillips said.

The sergeant said the 22-year-old then punched the victim “multiple times” with her right fist and pulled her hair as witnesses filmed it.

She then drove away.

The court was told the victim was nauseous, dizzy, her head was hurting and a large tuft of her hair came out following the attack and the next day she was also bruised.

“The victim was finding it difficult to sleep, was anxious and thinking about the assault,” Sergeant Stephens said.

The sergeant said police officers could not find Lloyd so an arrest warrant was issued before she handed herself in.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist questioned why the others were filming it.

Solicitor Jason Kerr called the altercation a “catfight” and Sergeant Stephens objected to the term.

“A catfight would suggest it’s a consensual fight and it’s clearly not,” Sergeant Stephens said.

Mr Kerr said Lloyd, who was 21 at the time of the assault, had moved to New South Wales and was working as a disability support worker, which was the reason police could not contact her.

He said the victim was also striking back at his client during the assault.

“(Lloyd) does accept she was the instigator of this fight,” Mr Kerr said.

“There are circumstances where there’s a trading of insults, and my client has suffered scratching.

“There’s been long-term animosity between my client and the defendant.”

Mr Stjernqvist sentenced Lloyd to 12 months’ probation and ordered she pay $500 compensation.

A conviction was not recorded.
