While you normally see cars being stolen from Brisbane homes, an Acacia Ridge woman has instead found a Black Mercedes dumped in her front lawn.

Though the car appears to have had its front windscreen smashed in and registration plates removed, police have been left stumped and unable to do anything about it.

Posting about the bizarre sight on a community Facebook group on Sunday afternoon, Antrim St resident Michelle Rampton revealed she walked out her front door that morning to find the black hatchback casually parked across her grass.

“You can imagine my surprise when … you see a strange car in your front yard, all locked up and smashed in,” she said.

“It wasn’t there when I came home Saturday night at 8.30pm, so it was left late Saturday night sometime.”

The strangest part of this car chronicle is that police say the vehicle hasn’t been reported as stolen, with a police spokesman revealing they’re not treating the dump-and-run as suspicious, but have now placed a police aware sticker on the back.

As a result, Michelle had to use her own Hyundai iLoad Van to tow the vehicle off her property into the street.

“No Tow Truck Company … won’t touch it cause we aren’t the owners even though it was on our front lawn inside our property line,” Ms Rampton added.

While no one has come forward to claim the van, neighbours in the street believe it may belong to a former nearby resident.

“What I gathered … some neighbours have said the car is from a few doors up that was parked for weeks in the front yard, they moved out weeks ago and left the car behind so how it ended in our front yard God only knows,” Ms Rampton said.

“Police went to the house it was last seen at but no one answered the door.

“In the 20 years we’ve lived in our house here, we’ve never had this happen before, so it’s very weird.”
