Newlyweds, new parents get foul messages from photographer after chasing up precious pictures

The operator of a Queensland photography business has lashed out at clients chasing precious images they say they have been left waiting months for, with a number of complaints ending up with the Office of Fair Trading.

A Queensland photography business is the subject of complaints that they did not deliver pictures to clients.

Couples have complained they have been left waiting months for precious wedding day and family photos from a Moreton Bay photography business they paid in full.

Rikky-Leigh Johnson runs Flawless Photography, based in Rothwell.

Her business is known to OFT, who investigated two complaints – one in 2021 and the other from earlier this year. In both cases, the matters were later resolved.

“When hiring a photographer, consumers are advised to obtain a contract that details the goods or services to be provided, and when they are to be provided by,” an OFT spokeswoman said.

“A consumer is entitled to request a refund for unsupplied goods or services.”

This week, Queensland police confirmed a fresh complaint was made against Flawless Photography relating to clients not receiving photos.

“Investigations are ongoing,” a police spokeswoman said.

Disgruntled clients took to social media with their allegations against Flawless Photography, prompting the business’s social media pages to be removed within hours.

The Courier-Mail contacted Ms Johnson on Wednesday raising concerns made by clients about her business. Since then, two clients have received their photos after months of waiting.

One of those couples, Ryan and Natasha, had gone public with their allegations against Ms Johnson days earlier. Before they received their photos, Ms Johnson sent this message:

“F — you both! Your (sic) not getting anything from me. All my other beautiful clients will receive there (sic) images, but you, no f — ing way … if you want your photos and all this over, remove all posts. The more Ryan posts, the more this delays.”

A third client, Audrina-Lillian Mazur, received a link on Thursday which was meant to contain photos from her Father’s Day shoot in September, but that link did not work.

When she sent the link to Ms Mazur, Ms Johnson wrote: “There’s your photos liar … such a shame that your daughter has to be raised by someone as foul as you … remove all of your posts as it now definitely leads to defamation of character.”

Ms Johnson did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

The Office of Fair Trading encourages consumers in similar positions to try to resolve the issue with the trader first, but if that fails, they can lodge a complaint through the OFT website or by calling 13QGOV (13 74 68).
