From steamed dumplings to donuts and Greek souvlaki, the 2020 AFL Grand Final will taste very different to years past.
Family business O’Brien Group has catered at the Gabba for more than 20 years and has built several new food carts ahead of this year’s big dance.

Director Anne-Maree O’Brien said there would be new pop-ups and outlets open on Saturday for hot jam donuts, streamed dumplings, Mexican food, Greek food, meat carvery and gourmet barbecue.
Director Anne-Maree O’Brien said: “We’ve been trialling the dumpling carts the last few weeks and it’s been so incredibly popular, we just keep building more carts and putting them around the stadium,” she said.
Gabba general manager Mark Zundans said newly renovated bars and entertainment areas would also open on Grand Final night as part of a $35m upgrade.
“We’ve got refreshed food outlets and two fantastic new destination bars surrounded by
lively artwork by local Brisbane street artists,” he said.
Fan favourites such as pies, hot chips and sausage rolls will be given pride of place in established snack outlets within the Gabba.
“We really added all the pop-ups in so that the main snack outlets provide those fan favourites of pies, and chips and Chiko rolls, which are still really popular,” Ms O’Brien said.
Ms O’Brien said 8000 hot pies and 12,000 serves of chips would be sold on the night.
“The pop-ups are an extra addition to bring that culinary option to everyone,” she said.
“It’s still a huge week ahead but it’s looking in a good place and we are ready for the Grand Final.”
