Netflix has released a new teaser of juggernaut series Boy Swallows Universe after wrapping production in Brisbane.
The streaming giant announced on Tuesday that production on the eight-part series, an adaptation of Trent Dalton’s best-selling novel, had wrapped after eight months of filming across Brisbane.
A new batch of nostalgic filtered images taken on the local film set bring to life the 1970s and 80s world Dalton created, showcasing Australian actors Phoebe Tonkin and Travis Fimmel as couple Frances Bell and Lyle Orlik as well as Felix Cameron as a young Eli Bell.
The production used homes in suburban Brisbane, such as a house in Geebung, while they went as far west as Dalby and south as the Gold Coast.
Supported by the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy, Boy Swallows Universe was expected to inject $33 million into the Queensland economy, create around 185 jobs for cast and crew and employ 2500 extras.
The cast threw a wrap party, featuring a 70s playlist, at Soapbox Beer in Brisbane in January.
The series is being produced by Australia’s Brouhaha Entertainment together with Anonymous Content, and Chapter One and also stars Simon Baker, Anthony LaPaglia and Bryan Brown.
A release date is yet to be confirmed.
