A new street sign has left locals wondering if their suburb has been renamed after an unfortunate misspelling.

A new sign for the Moreton Bay suburb Narangba was spelt “Nerangba”.

Online, residents poked fun at the mistake, with one saying “there’s never enough A stickers in the packet.”

Others joked that the sign had been repurposed for the Gold Coast suburb Nerang with two letters tacked onto the end.

The sign was situated near New Settlement Rd and the Bruce Highway northbound entry ramp in Narangba.

“I think that the fact checkers need to be deployed,” one woman wrote.

“Is this a new suburb?” queried another.

The sign has since been fixed with the spelling error rectified.
