EMERGENCY services were on the scene of a horror crash involving a car and three pedestrians in the city’s central business district on Wednesday afternoon.
George Street was closed after police said a motorist lost control of their car and struck the pedestrians about 3.15pm.
A woman and three men, including the driver, suffered from facial and soft tissue injuries.

All four patients were taken to hospital.

Police cordoned off the street area in front of the market stalls at Reddacliff Place.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the driver is believed to have had a medical episode before losing control of his vehicle.

Witnesses said they saw “bodies flying” and feared it was a terrorist attack.

Market stall holder Seraphina Webster said she was in shock when she saw the car mow down the pedestrians.

Ms Webster said, “I saw a car driving along and people crossing the road and the next thing I saw bodies flying over and veered off to the sides.

“I’ve never seen someone get knocked over. But there were two or three literally on the window screen,” she said.

Ms Webster said it was absolute chaos in the aftermath.

“Everyone was running and asking what’s going on what’s going on and on their phones.

“I was in panic. I thought it could be a terrorist attack. I didn’t know what to do,” she told The Courier-Mail.

Freddy Alas said he saw a man who was covered in blood lying in the centre of the road.

“One man was hit covered in blood. One of the others must’ve been eating hot dogs because there was a sausage on the floor.

“That made me really sad because they’re all just minding their own business and then this happens,” he said.

Mr Alas, who is a flower wholesaler, instantly thought it was a terrorist attack when he saw the aftermath.

“It looked like one of those Sydney, Melbourne terrorist attacks when the driver ploughed down people crossing the road,” he said.

“That happens elsewhere but not in Queensland I thought. Queenslanders are good people,” he said.

Mr Alas said he was relieved when he found out it wasn’t a terrorist attack and that the driver had a “health condition.”

The black Honda was towed and roads re-opened about 5pm.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
