Federal MP Bob Katter has been refused entry to a country pub in NSW after he failed to show his Covid vaccine passport to staff when requested, a week after vowing to go into bat for people’s freedoms.
It is believed Mr Katter, who is fully vaccinated, tried to enter the Tamworth Hotel on Sunday afternoon but was unable to produce any proof of vaccination.
He was spotted leaving the hotel a short time later accompanied to the door by a masked employee.
While the Kennedy MP is double jabbed, he promised protesters at a “freedom” rally in Cairns last week that he would go into bat for their freedoms, which he accused state premiers of “spitting on”.
“Freedom should be honoured and fought for, not spat upon as the premiers of Queensland and Victoria have done,” Mr Katter said at the rally.
During his speech, Mr Katter also claimed about eight people in his electorate had either died, become crippled or faced serious medical complications after getting vaccinated, which earned him a roar of applause from anti-vaccine mandate protesters at the “freedom” rally, held on the Cairns Esplanade last Saturday.
