CREATIVE and cherished, lively and loved, little Indie Armstrong has been farewelled by hundreds at her funeral, remembered a fortnight after the car park tragedy that took her from them.

A montage of photos showed Indie’s perfect Queensland childhood - beach and bush, sand and water, family and fun - the sort of pics every parent carries in hundreds on their phone.

Her little friends dressed in rainbow headbands, skirts or tops carried flowers forward to place on the tiny white coffin sitting in front of her family, mum Emily, dad Jason, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Sister Lily sat with her leg in plaster and sporting a pair of animal ears on a headband, the kind little kids usually wear with their friends and siblings in dress up games.

In a message penned by her parents, little Indie was remembered as a free spirit who lit up her family, who loved them, and was loved by them “to the moon and back”.

“Indie Rose, my beautiful baby girl you came into the world so peacefully.

“You were our ray of sunshine, you brought so much joy to us.

“You were crazy, fun, with the biggest heart. Your kindness was radiant you were a caring friend and you were a loving sister who always looked out for Sunny and Lily.

“You were a free spirit who always looked on the bright side of life and loved to have fun wherever you went.

“You loved swimming in the ocean, catching crabs and jumping waves, swinging upside down in the frangipani tree and riding your bike around the hill like crazy.

“You loved to spend hours outside. Your enthusiasm for life was infectious.

“Your sense of style was your own and you never cared what other people thought about it.

“Your denim jacket was your signature piece, always layering clothes and making sure your outfit was paired with the perfect pair of shoes. Your room was always a mess, but you had so much fun there creating things for your friends, family and teachers.

“Your friends meant everything to you. Your little notes telling them you ‘love them to the moon and back’ will be treasured forever.

“You always put others before yourself, especially Sunny. Sunny is already missing you.

“He has no one to pour his milk or crush his weetbix and life is hard without Indie.

“You took him under your wing from day one, always looking out for him and you were two little peas in a pod. You were Sunny’s best friend, always looking out for him and I never had to worry about Sunny because you were always there for him. You were his second little mum.”

Their words told of how much Lily and Indie loved each other, were always there for each other.

“With a common love of dancing and craft meant you could spend hours making threads together and were always mucking around singing and dancing.

“You loved putting on shows together and performing all your greatest hits, which put a smile on everyone’s face.

“You were dad’s little offsider. You loved spending time with him down in shed getting dirty. Role playing in the boat with Sunny and were the first to put your hand up to go fishing and prawning.

“You’ll be forever missed. You are our everything. I miss my morning cuddles, your crazy stories and that spark you brought to our family.
