Three people believed to be scuba divers have been rescued off Moreton Island after their boat capsized just before 3pm on Thursday.

Water police and the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter responded to an emergency beacon activated by the group in the Cape Moreton region at the northern tip of Flinders Reef.

The LifeFlight helicopter flew to the area and spotted the men in the water where they were picked up by a police boat.

The trio, aged in their 30s and 60s, were transported to Tangalooma resort where they were met by paramedics as a precaution.

The three patients were uninjured and were not taken to hospital.
