Mick Doohan ’cool’ with renting Gold Coast mansion to stars despite property being ‘trashed’ by Hollywood actor Johnny Depp

His Gold Coast mansion was the scene of the alleged bloody row between Hollywood actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, but MotoGP legend Mick Doohan is still ‘cool’ with renting it out to visiting stars.

Johnny Depp v Amber Heard trial: Drugs, defecation and dog abuse

Gold Coast identity Mick Doohan is continuing to rent out his mega-mansion to visiting celebrities, despite its alleged trashing by an enraged Johnny Depp.

Sensational court claims emerged last week that the Hollywood star allegedly caused ‘complete carnage’ at the Coomera Waters mansion during a drink and drunk-fuelled row with then-wife Amber Heard in 2015 when he was in Australia filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Depp allegedly used blood from his severed finger – an injury he claimed happened when Heard threw a vodka bottle at him – to paint messages on a mirror during the rampage which left the opulent home ‘completely destroyed’ and a damage bill of more than $200,000, his defamation trial against The Sun newspaper was told.

Blood was allegedly spattered throughout the house, furniture smashed and graffiti daubed on walls, artwork and even a lampshade, the trial in London’s High Court heard.

Depp even allegedly tried to write Heard’s name in urine inside the mansion as he was being escorted out by security, the court was told.

But despite the extensive damage, sources close to Doohan say the former motorcycle world champion turned millionaire businessman and wife Selina shrugged off the incident and have continued to rent out the mansion to visiting VIPs and celebrities.

“Mick’s cool – damage can be fixed, mess can be cleaned up,” the source said.

He said Doohan was keen to rebuild the Gold Coast film industry amid the COVID-19 pandemic by hosting stars at his secluded 16ha waterfront estate known as Diamond Head, with views to Stradbroke Island.

The award-winning three-level mansion boasts eight bathrooms with heated marble floors, a 2000-bottle wine cellar, cinema, gymnasium and pool rooms and a spectacular trophy room large housing Doohan’s five world champion-winning motorcycles.

Built by Doohan’s brother Scott, the estate also features an airconditioned boathouse, guesthouse and caretaker’s residence.

International high-flyers are booked to move into the estate, with Dannii Minogue believed to be piloting a home quarantine scheme in another Gold Coast mansion to help pave the way for other celebrities to avoid hotel quarantine.

Doohan’s previous house guests have included Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and pop star Pink.

Depp’s former house manager, Ben King, told the High Court that he found the actor’s severed finger inside the mansion which was ‘not in a good state’ and had to be cleaned by professional cleaners.

“There was blood in a number of different rooms around the house,” he said.

“There was a trail of blood spots up the stairs, and blood spots in the bedrooms, in one bedroom mainly.”

Mr King said the floors had to be sanded, the curtains cleaned, paintwork and plasterwork replaced, and chipped stone on the countertop in the bar area repaired.

Depp told the court that he was a ‘party’ to the damage, most of which he claimed was caused by Heard.

He is suing The Sun for libel after it referred to him as a ‘wife beater’ in a 2018 article.

Doohan did not respond to the Sunday Mail’s request for comment. Scott Doohan said he was ‘not interested’ in talking.
