Man trapped in machinery south of Brisbane

A man’s arm was trapped in machinery for over three hours following a workplace accident south of Brisbane.

A worker has sustained serious arm injuries after getting stuck in machinery at a business south of Brisbane for over three hours.

The accident happened at a workplace in Enterprise Drive, Beaudesert, just before 5pm.

Four Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews were dispatched to free the man, as well as paramedics and police units.

An ambulance spokesman said that the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was conscious and breathing throughout the ordeal.

“An initial attempt to get him out was unsuccessful so we’re just trying to figure out a game plan for a second attempt now,” a QFES spokesman said.

The man was freed from the machine about 8pm and taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane with significant arm injuries.

“He does have multiple fractures in his arm,” an ambulance spokesman said.

Critical-care paramedics accompanied the man to hospital.

He was believed to have been trapped in a hopper, a funnel-shaped device used to distribute gravel and similar material.
