Man crushed to death by granite slabs at Cleveland identified as Ray Finch, 61, stonemason

EMERGENCY crews remain on scene at a Cleveland business this afternoon following the tragic death of a 61-year-old local stonemason.
Ray Finch was crushed to death when two 600kg granite slabs slipped from the back of a truck on top of him.
Fellow employees and bystanders are understood to have tried to free Mr Finch immediately after the incident.
Paramedics were unable to revive the man when they arrived on scene.
Crews are currently in the process of cleaning up the scene where the truck and a forklift remain.
Employees in surrounding businesses described Mr Finch as a “terrific bloke to talk to”.
His family are also on scene to help with the clean up.
EARLIER: A man has been crushed to death in Brisbane’s bayside after two granite slabs fell on top of him.
The “industrial incident” occurred on Shore St West, Cleveland about 10am Tuesday.

Paramedics were unable to revive the male who sustained critical injuries.
Worksafe Queensland confirmed a male worker had been fatally crushed at an address in Cleveland, with Workplace Health and Safety investigators on their way to the scene.
