Man flown to hospital after falling down rock face on North Stradbroke

A man is in a potentially life-threatening condition after falling 10m on to rocks, hitting his head and then going under water on North Stradbroke Island.

An elderly man has been flown to hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition after falling 10m on North Stradbroke Island.

Emergency services were called to assist a man in his 70s who reportedly fell 10m down a rock face on to rocks below off Moongalba Rd, Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island, just before 2.30pm Tuesday.

It is understood the man fell on rocks, hit his head and went underwater.

According to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman, the man was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.

“He was transported post near-drowning with a head injury by helicopter,” the spokeswoman said.

“He suffered facial, chest, and abdominal injuries.”
