Man dies in cargo ship incident, WHS to investigate

An investigation is under way after a man died while working on a cargo ship off the Sunshine Coast on Monday night.

A man has died in a workplace incident on the Sunshine Coast, after it’s understood he fell overboard a large cargo ship on Monday night.

Emergency services responded to the incident off Caloundra after it was reported the man, whose age is unknown, was in a critical condition after falling from the boat.

The incident happened just after 7pm Monday.

Police would this morning not go into details of the incident, as it is now a matter for Workplace Health and Safety.

It’s understood the man was not an Australian national.

This is the second workplace related death in the last 12 hours, after a man was crushed by a truck in Ipswich earlier Tuesday morning.
