Man critical after highway collision near Bribie Island Road

Traffic has come to a standstill on the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane after a serious truck and motorcycle crash in Caboolture.

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital and traffic is backed up for kilometres after a serious accident on the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Caboolture just after 1pm.

Paramedics including critical care were called to the incident on the Bruce Highway ramp and Bribie Island Road about 1.11pm.

According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads both northbound lanes of the highway remain closed with long delays expected to continue into the afternoon.

A woman who claimed her family witnessed the crash said there was “blood everywhere” and her family were extremely shaken up.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said there is still a “fair bit” of congestion in the area.

Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternative route with Police warning diversions also have long delays.

The motorcyclist was transported in a critical condition to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

An emergency services spokesman said the patient has suspected head and chest injuries.
