Man bitten by shark off North West Island in Central Queensland
A man in his 30s has flown to hospital after being bitten on the leg by a shark in waters off Central Queensland, but the creature barely managed to draw blood.

A MAN has been bitten by a shark in waters off Central Queensland.
The man, aged in his 30s, sustained minor leg injuries after he was bitten by a shark in the Coral Sea off North West Island near Yeppoon about 12.58pm.

A rescue chopper has airlifted him to Gladstone Hospital.
He is in a stable condition.
It is believed the man was attacked by a shovelnose shark.
A QAS spokeswoman said the man sustained minor injuries with next to no blood lost.
Gladstone Senior Operations Supervisor Alistair Vagg said the middle-aged man was treated on scene for minor injuries.
“The crew has found the patient was bitten by a shovelnose shark and has sustained minor lacerations to his lower limbs and hand,” he said.
“After the patient was treated by the helicopter crew and paramedics he has been transported to Gladstone base hospital for further treatment and assessment”.
In October, two British backpackers were attacked while snorkelling at Hook Island in the Whitsunday Islands.
One of the men lost their foot in the attack.
In March, a 25-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his thigh when a shark attacked him at Hardy Reef, near Hamilton island, which is also in the Whitsunday Islands chain.
It followed a fatal shark attack on Victorian doctor Daniel Christidis, 33, in November 2018 in Cid Harbour at Whitsunday Island.
