Police are investigating a violent home invasion south of Brisbane overnight during which a man was beaten, burned and strangled.
Emergency services were called to a property on Tarlo Street in Eagleby shortly before 2am to find a 31-year-old man with serious injuries.
Initial investigations indicate four men entered the residence on Tarlo Street while the man was sleeping.
The men threatened the occupant and demanded money, before assaulting him and stealing personal items and fleeing the scene on foot.
The man sustained head and neck injuries and was transported to Logan Hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe it was a targeted attack and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said she didn’t hear any disturbance until police knocked on her door at 2:30am.
“They asked for my CCTV but my cameras weren’t working,” she said.
“Forensics and police were here at the early hours of the morning then they were gone by 6am.
“But I don’t really know whoever lives there well at all, just seen the man a couple of times,” she said.
Another neighbour said she had seen police at the home several times before.
“Police had been called there a couple of times, there’s always people coming in and out of the place.”
A police car was seen circling the street at about 9:45am on Wednesday but no crime scene has been declared at the property.
Police are appealing for information, including CCTV or dashcam footage of the area around this time.
